La estrate´gia de inflación objetivo en Colombia

Abstract

El artículo examina las principales características que debe tener una economía para adoptar este tipo de régimen (Esquema de Inflación Objetivo);además hace énfasis en el manejo de la política monetaria en Colombia en la década de los noventa, en 1991 la Constitución Política de Colombia le otorga independencia al Banco de la República y le adjudica como principal objetivo velar por el poder adquisitivo de la moneda, de esta forma se da inicio al cambio de régimen monetario, se empiezan a adoptar algunos de los elementos del esquema de inflación objetivo. En 1994 se cambia de régimen cambiario,se pasa del esquema de minidevaluaciones diarias (crawling peg) al sistema de bandas cambiarias, en 1999 se deja flotar del todo la tasa de cambio y a principios del nuevo milenio se adopta completamente el esquema de inflación objetivo utilizando como principal instrumento las Operaciones de Mercado Abierto (OMAs).
