Comentarios sobre las relaciones de causalidad entre tasa de cambio y precios

Abstract

Para el economista consciente de la existencia de numerosos detalles estadísticos y econométricos, la ausencia de una relación de causalidad entre la tasa de cambio y los precios no debería presentar mayor problema; para el lector desprevenido, por el contrario, dicho resultado representa una contradicción con su realidad cotidiana y choca con los esquemas mecánicos que tiene fundados en su mente. A continuación demostraremos cómo la polémica originada por los lectores desprevenidos obedece a una mala interpretación del concepto de "ausencia de una relación causal", y a una confusión de éste con el concepto de "exogeneidad".
