Demanda laboral y reforma comercial en el sector manufacturero colombiano: 1977-1999

Abstract

En este documento se estima un modelo dinámico de la demandalaboral industrial en Colombia, con base en datos depanel a nivel de establecimiento para el período 1977-1999.Los resultados muestran algunos cambios importantes en lafunción de demanda de trabajo industrial. Se encuentra quelas firmas han aumentado su velocidad de ajuste, y que elproceso de apertura económica de los anos noventa aumentóla elasticidad de sustitución factorial. No obstante, las firmasmás jóvenes son menos elásticas al salario que las empresasmás antiguas, en tanto las últimas presentan una velocidad de ajuste menor que las primeras frente a los choques de largo plazo. Finalmente,hay evidencia significativa de un proceso técnico ahorrador de trabajoen la firma manufacturera, el cual empieza temprano en la década delos ochenta pero se profundiza durante la década de los noventa.
