Las maquiladoras en Centroamérica
Abstract
Este trabajo tiene, por objetivo, analizar las perspectivas de desarrollo que tienen las maquiladoras en Centroamérica, como palanca del crecimiento económico y del desarrollo social de la región. Después de una breve revisión histórica acerca de la situación de emergencia vivida por las maquiladoras centroamericanas, se analiza su contexto, para hacer énfasis tanto en el régimen legal de importación temporal, como en el régimen legal de zona franca administrada o recinto fiscal. Posteriormente, se analizan los impactos que ha sufrido la industria maquiladora, no sólo en el crecimiento económico regional, sino también en la generación de empleo, bajo la variable de la competencia asiática. Después del análisis realizado, se hará un estudio proyectivo para analizar las tendencias, y finalmente, se recomendarán varias estrategias, entre las cuales se destaca la promoción de la creación de maquiladoras, que vaya más allá de aprovechar como ventaja comparativa la mano de obra barata. Los países centroamericanos deben formular e implementar estrategias de diversificación de las maquiladoras, en ramas industriales que impliquen un mayor valor agregado y procesos de innovación tecnológica.Download Info
