Ingreso y desigualdad: ¿Cómo afectan a la felicidad en América Latina?

Abstract

Este trabajo analiza la relación entre la distribución del ingreso y el bienestar individual a partir del nivel de felicidad reportado por los individuos en la encuesta Latinobarómetro 2008. La principal contribución de este trabajo es el análisis no solo del efecto directo del desempeno económico (medido a través del ingreso per cápita, el índice de desarrollo humano, y la incidencia de la pobreza y la inequidad), sino también de los impactos indirectos de las características macroeconómicas de los países. En el documento se estiman modelos probit y se verifican los resultados esperados en cuanto a las características personales y a las variables macroeconómicas.
