Una medición de la pobreza: un enfoque complementario para el caso colombiano

Abstract

En la literatura sobre pobreza es cada vez más aceptada la perspectiva sociológica de privaciones relativas, entendida como los sentimientos de frustación que tienen las personas al interior de la sociedad, al no tener acceso a las oportunidades que si son viables para otros. A partir de esto se han estructurado varios modelos que buscan medir dicha definición de pobreza desde el punto de vista de la teoría económica. Se busca dar una visión complementaria a la forma de calcular la pobreza en Colombia, utilizando el concepto de privaciones relativas, que es mucho más rico en información que los conceptos normalmente utilizados, esto permite diagnosticar mejor quienes son pobres y quienes no lo son. Además, son aproximaciones que han sido tomadas por lo general en los países desarrollados. Se utilizó una aproximación econométrica a la definición de pobreza basada en técnicas de análisis de secciones transversales.
