Abstract

En este trabajo se presentan dos conjuntos de controversias en torno al carácter dominante y poco general que tiene la literatura de Nueva Geografía Económica (NGE). El primer frente de análisis considera que la NGE se concentra en una serie de tópicos poco interesantes desde el punto de vista de la economía urbano-regional al tiempo que carece de un referente espacial explícito. Desde el segundo frente, se evalúa la pertinencia de la NGE para estudiar el fenómeno de la convergencia y la medición de economías de aglomeración. La conclusión está dirigida hacia una mejor interpretación de la NGE haciendo un uso más productivo de sus principales aportes.
