Abstract

En Colombia no hay evidencia de una relación directa entre crecimiento económico y apertura comercial, por el contrario, hay evidencia de que la ley de Thirlwall en todas sus versiones explica mejor la relación del sector externo y el crecimiento, a pesar de que los términos de intercambio no son constantes y de que sólo se puede asegurar el equilibrio si se usa una regla total, es decir, que usen todas las cuentas de la balanza de pagos. Los modelos extendidos de la ley de Thirlwall mejoran notablemente si se sustituyen los flujos de capital por la serie de variación del capital acumulado.
