Abstract

Este ensayo analiza tres contribuciones de Albert Hirschman que son importantes para comprender el proceso latinoamericano de industrialización. La primera se refiere a las características de este proceso en relación con los casos de “industrialización tardía” en el continente europeo analizados por Alexander Gerschenkron. La segunda se refiere a la aplicación de sus teorías sobre la dinámica del proceso de desarrollo, en particular los conceptos de encadenamientos y crecimiento desequilibrado. La tercera es su reflexión sobre el auge y la crisis de la teoría clásica del desarrollo, que se puede utilizar en forma apropiada para analizar la crisis y eventual desmantelamiento de la estrategia de sustitución de importaciones América Latina.
