Economic Crisis and Enhanced Competitivness of Municipalities

Abstract

The text deals with the issue of a confl icting relationship between state and municipal budgets in the Slovak Republic. It also focuses on the fi eld of possibilities of local self-government fi nancing in the context of current global economic crisis. Cities and towns must adopt rational measures and they are looking for reserves especially in effective economic management and that in income as well as in expenditure of their budget. Their properties should be sold and rented in a more transparent, economic and effi cient way and they should also increase the effi ciency of claim collecting.
