Not All Firms Want to Hire Refugees

Abstract

The Ifo Institute together with the personnel firm Randstad surveyed the personnel managers of 1,163 companies in the fourth quarter of 2015 on whether they plan to recruit refugees in 2016 or 2017. 34% of personnel managers can imagine that they will employ refugees this year or next year. It is, however, the general recruitment plans that are relevant for the survey results. That is why data from the IAB Establishment Panel were used, in which almost 16,000 companies in Germany were asked if they had done any hiring in the first half year of 2015.
