Abstract

The Ifo Investment Database provides annual investment matrices, which provide insights into the proportion of individual product groups in the investments of an industry. Alongside the common concept of ownership, a representation of investment time series according to the user concept, whereby leased investment goods are entered on the lessee instead of the leasing company, offers additional ways of investigating investment structures and economic development trends. The article describes the latest results of the Ifo Investment Database, which already include estimates for 2014. The focus is on the effects of the general revision of the German national accounts system last year and the newly created “intellectual property” group of investment goods that resulted from it.
