European Construction Activity Falls – Further Losses in 2013 Set to Follow 2012 Downturn: Selected Results from the Euroconstruct Winter Conference 2012

Abstract

According to the latest analyses by experts from the 19 member states of the Euroconstruct network, hopes of a rapid recovery in the European construction industry have been dashed. After forecasting 2% decline in construction activity last June for 2012, they now estimate the downturn to be a good 4½%. Contrary to their original forecasts, experts now predict further losses of around 1½% in 2013. Only a moderate recovery is expected by the end of the forecasting period in 2015.
