Ifo architects survey: Very favourable business situation

Abstract

The business climate of freelance architects in Germany improved significantly at the beginning of the second quarter of 2012, according to the quarterly Ifo Architects Survey. Such a high value for the climate index was last reached in the mid 1990s in the final phase of the reunification boom. The development of incoming orders was also very favourable, particularly in non-residential construction. The number of contracts awarded by public institutions literally exploded – thanks to a few large orders – and exceeded the level of the first quarter of 2012 by nearly 80%.
