Abstract

As a follow-up to the articles in Ifo Schnelldienst 3/2012 Christian Kastrop, Ludger Schuknecht and Carsten Zinkan, Federal Ministry of Finance, comment on the decisions made at the EU Summits of December 2011 and January 2012. In their opinion, the foundations for a stability union and a functioning monetary union were generally laid. They see the new set of rules as appropriate and goal-oriented. It is now “merely” a case of implementing them clearly.
