Industry branches: Data and facts on the German meat market

Abstract

The German public and German policy-makers have been recently confronted with the spoilt meat scandals. The meat that was rejected in summer 2006 consisted of 1,500 tonnes of meat or 0.3 parts per thousand of all meat consumed in Germany. This article provides an overview of and identifies trends in the German meat market.
