How much “Germany” is there in a Porsche?

Abstract

Prof. Prof. Ferdinand Dudenhöffer, University of Applied Sciences in Gelsenkirchen, investigates the extent of the foreign contribution in the manufacturing costs of German automobile manufacturers, especially the Porsche Cayenne. He concludes that the German manufacturing share of this car is ca. 33% and not, as Porsche maintains, 55%. The German value added portion of the Porsche Cayenne is much lower than for other German premium automakers.
