Recession in the manufacturing industry

Author

Listed:
  • Reinhard Hild

Abstract

The manufacturing industry in Germany entered recession during the course of 2001. The drastic decline in demand and the corresponding cut-backs in production were experienced by nearly all manufacturing industries. The only major industry that has only been moderately affected by the downturn has been the automobile industry. Next year production will be marked by very little growth which will be barley distinguishable from stagnation in a year-on-year comparison.
