Innovation patterns in German industry

Author

Listed:
  • Horst Penzkofer

Abstract

Nearly three quarters of employees in German industry were in innovative firms in 1999, i.e. in the some 60% of those firms that implemented product or process innovations last year. This is one of the results of the recent Ifo Innovation Survey. This share has shown little change in recent years, but the firms assess their medium-term sales outlook more optimistically than a year ago.
