Kapazitätsauslastung im ifo-Konjunkturtest - mehr als eine Prozentzahl

Abstract

Der Grad der Kapazitätsauslastung im verarbeitenden Gewerbe zählt als Maßstab für die Entwicklung der Konjunktur zu den am meisten beachteten Ergebnissen des ifo Konjunkturtests. Die jeweils zum Quartalsende gestellte Frage ist eine der wenigen, zu deren Beantwortung auf dem Testbogen quantitative Antwortkategorien vorgegeben werden. Da die regelmäßige Kommentierung der Ergebnisse voraussichtlich ab April 1998 auf gesamtdeutschen Daten basieren wird, werden in dem vorliegenden Beitrag - anhand der Entwicklung der letzten 30 Jahre in der westdeutschen Industrie - einige der am häufigsten gestellten Fragen zur Entstehung und Aussagefähigkeit der Auslastungszahlen diskutiert.
