Projektion der Studierendenzahlen: Ostdeutschland wird es schwer haben

Abstract

Den ostdeutschen Flächenländern wird es in ihrer Gesamtheit zukünftig möglicherweise nicht mehr gelingen, die Effekte des demographischen Wandels durch Wanderungsgewinne zu kompensieren. Dies ist das Ergebnis verschiedener Projektionen zur zukünftigen Entwicklung der Studierendenzahl, die das IFO INSTITUT, Niederlassung Dresden, auf Basis der Bildungsvorausberechnung 2012 und der Studienanfängerprognose der KULTUSMINISTERKONFERENZ berechnet hat. In diesem Blickpunkt wird zunächst die Entwicklung der Studienanfängerzahlen in den ostdeutschen Flächenländern im Vergleich zu den Flächenländern West dargestellt. Auf Basis dieser Zahlen wird für diese Regionen die Zahl der Studierenden bis zum Jahr 2025 berechnet. Die Projektion ist für die Flächenländer West in den Szenarien eher optimistischer als für die einzelnen ostdeutschen Flächenländer.
