    Abstract

    "Billiger Osten - Paradies für Rentner und Studenten" titelte der SPIEGEL in seiner Online-Version am 3. August 2007. Diese These können viele aus ihrer alltagsweltlichen Erfahrung nachvollziehen. Insbesondere Besucher aus den alten Ländern haben diese Sichtweise, weil viele Dienstleistungen aufgrund der geringeren Löhne günstiger angeboten werden. Doch entspricht diese subjektive Wahrnehmung den Tatsachen? Um die regionalen Preisunterschiede erfassen zu können, müssen die Preise für einen umfangreichen Warenkorb ermittelt werden. Da dieser Aufwand sehr hoch ist, gab es bislang keine aktuellen Zahlen für Deutschland. Eine Studie des Bundesinstituts für Bau-, Stadt und Raumforschung im Bundesamt für Bauwesen und Raumordnung (BBSR) hat sich diesem Informationsdefizit gewidmet und deren Ergebnisse werden hier vorgestellt.
