An der Sicherung der technologischen Basis für Innovationen muß gearbeitet werden (Teil I)

Abstract

Um von langfristigen Zukunftsperspektiven eines Landes oder einer Region sprechen zu können, müssen mindestens zwei Entwicklungen vorliegen. Erstes ist es nötig, daß Firmen in genügendem Umfang Forschung und Entwicklung (FuE) betreiben. Aus erfolgreicher FuE-Tätigkeit entstehen technologische Innovationen. Diese FuE-Ergebnisse müssen zweitens in marktfähige Produkte und Verfahren umgesetzt werden können. Erst diese Entwicklungen zusammen können auf Dauer die Wachstumgsperspektiven einer Region positiv beeinflussen.Um den derzeitigen Stand der FuE-Aktivitäten in Sachsen und den neuen Bundesländern abschätzen zu können und zu prüfen, inwieweit die bisherige FuE-Entwicklung einen notwendigen Beitrag zur Sicherung der technologischen Wettbewersfähigkeit ostdeutscher Unternehmen geleistet hat, wird auf die Patentstatistik und aktuellen Daten der Wissenschaftsstatistik zurückgegriffen.
