Abstract

Innovation and its impact on the competitiveness of industrial products has become, during the last decades, the main concern of, both, manufactures and politicians. Joseph Schumpeter was the person who stressed out the importance of innovation as concerns the competition between firms. Schumpeter provided the most useful definition of the industrial innovation. The innovation consists not only in manufacturing new or improved products. The innovation also consists of different organization forms, a new sales market and new sources of raw materials. Having as background this theory on innovation Joseph Schumpeter has drawn up a research project with a present interest constantly stressed out worldwide and carried forward by means of the neo-Schumpeterian trend. In view of acceding to the European Union, it is absolutely necessary to support the innovation policy for each and every industrial firm whose main target consists of the competitiveness of its products on both domestic and foreign markets.
