Abstract

The role of social relationships in economic development has been emphasized for a long time in local development literature. However, there is yet no synthetic framework to analyse the various relationships between economic and sociological phenomena. Recent works of the social capital literature seek to fill ? at least partially ? that gap. In this article, we present the different mechanisms by which sociological features influence economic performance, before showing the relevance of this framework for rural development studies. Classification JEL : R11, R12.
