Abstract

The present report is a study of the effect, both economically and politically, of Libya joining the Euro-Mediterranean partnership. The commercial relationships between Libya and the European Union are significant. The attractiveness of the Libyan market, however, has recently been enhanced by their adoption of foreign investment policies. Libya?s joining the Barcelona process will help to strengthen economic relations with other Mediterranean countries. Even with favourable economic conditions, political obstacles can still block the integration of Libya in the regional process. The principal constraints are directly linked to ; the definitive lifting of the United Nations imposed sanctions ; the Libyan political system as it exists and the position views of the Arab League with respect to Israel.
