Abstract

Tom Krebs und Martin Scheffel untersuchen die gesamtwirtschaftlichen und fiskalischen Effekte öffentlicher Investitionen auf Basis eines mikroökonomisch fundierten makroökonomischen Modells der deutschen Volkswirtschaft. Die Simulationsanalyse zeigt, dass zusätzliche staatliche Investitionen in Infrastruktur, Hochschulen, Ganztagsschulen und in Kitas das langfristige Wachstum stärken und gleichzeitig die Tragfähigkeit der öffentlichen Finanzen verbessern. Investitionen in Schulen und Kitas erzielen die höchste fiskalische Effizienz und führen zu mehr Verteilungsgerechtigkeit. Diese Ergebnisse sprechen für eine Politik, die vorhandene fiskalische Spielräume zur Steigerung der öffentlichen Investitionen nutzt.
