Abstract

The Risk Management and Insurance faculty at the University of Calgary developed a new course in 2000‐2001 called International Insurance Markets. It was offered for the first time in 2001 and has been offered each year since, achieving its largest enrollment in 2004. In 2004 the course was selected as the winner of the Lester B. Strickler Innovation in Instruction award from the American Risk and Insurance Association. Below we provide an overview of the considerations in developing and delivering the course for students at the University of Calgary as well as other institutions.
