Política Creditícia No Brasil: O Sertão Vai Virar Mar?

Abstract

Este artigo se posiciona no debate sobre desigualdade econômica e social entre estados e regiões no Brasil, ao abordar empiricamente as questões associadas à relação entre o mercado de crédito e crescimento aliado à distribuição de renda e geração de bem estar. As principais evidências obtidas entre janeiro de 2004 e dezembro de 2009, a partir do uso da técnica de Phillips e Sul (2007), sugerem não haver uma convergência global da trajetória de crédito, sendo a formação dos dois clubes fortemente caracterizados pelo aspecto regional, com representativa presença das unidades federativas da região Nordeste no segundo clube, além de estados da região Norte. Além do aspecto regional, a inadimplência, o Produto Interno Bruto per capita, a proporção de pobres e o Índice de Desenvolvimento Humano são variáveis que caracterizam as diferenças entre os dois clubes.
