Les exploitations laitières du nord de l’UE : divergences des modèles

Abstract

Pour évaluer les conséquences des modifications des instruments de soutien il est important de bien connaître la diversité des modèles de production et d’apprécier leurs forces et faiblesses. C’est l’objet de cette analyse qui se focalise sur six bassins de production localisés au nord de l’Union européenne et qui s’appuie, d’une part, sur un traitement des données du Réseau d’Information Comptable Agricole (RICA) et, d’autre part, sur des enquêtes auprès d’experts et d’éleveurs. Dotées d’une plus faible productivité du travail que leurs concurrentes du nord, les exploitations laitières françaises sont avantagées par un faible coût d’acquisition des moyens de production (quota et foncier) et par des systèmes alimentaires performants. Si elles sont actuellement pénalisées par des frais de mécanisation élevés et des investissements soutenus, elles pourraient devenir économiquement plus performantes à moyen terme grâce au remboursement progressif des emprunts et aux futurs gains de productivité.
