Most of the consumers, especially those from Romania which is still in transition, guide themselves when purchasing products and services, first of all by their prices. If their price is not acceptable from the viewpoint of their purchasing power, they consider the product/service unsuitable for satisfying their needs, regardless of its quality. But this reasoning brings important financial prejudice to the consumers because the savings they would make by purchasing low priced products are minimized by the subsequent expenses, when consuming or using them, because they either have a lower nutritious value, or they aren’t reliable enough. This mentality is damaging and can only be changed through the information and education of the consumers by the governmental and non-governmental organizati-ons that protect them. Because the quality is not free and it costs, we should specify that the true consumer satisfaction is ensured only by an acceptable quality/price report. In other words, so that a product or service could satisfy the consumers’ needs it isn’t enough only to be of good quality but it is more important that its price complies with the quality.
